Applying inappropriate measures to innovation risks stifling it prematurely. Innovative ideas can take time to germinate; applying the wrong set of metrics may lead to teams prioritizing the wrong values. Align measures to the stage of innovation of the concept; in early stages, it may make sense to measure activities such as prototypes tested rather than business outcomes.
