Applying inappropriate measures to innovation risks stifling it prematurely. Innovative ideas can take time to germinate; applying the wrong set of metrics may lead to teams prioritizing the wrong values. Align measures to the stage of innovation of the concept; in early stages, it may make sense to measure activities such as prototypes tested rather than business outcomes.
- Innovation is management as much as it is creativity - Innovation is commonly thought of as coming up with novel ideas, but in enterprises especially it takes careful management for an innovative idea to come to light.
- Common innovation anti-patterns - This is an example of anti-pattern.
